Ameren Transmission (ATXI) files lawsuits against five Missouri Counties.

Ameren Transmission (ATXI) files lawsuits against five Missouri Counties.

Ameren Transmission Company of Illinois (ATX I) has filed five different lawsuits against counties in Northeast Missouri which have denied ATXI permission to construct its proposed Mark Twain Transmission Project. The project was approved by the Missouri Public Service Commission withthe condition that ATX I must obtain assent from each of the five counties through which the project is to be constructed.capture

Under Missouri law (229.100 Mo Stat) a utility cannot use any portion of county owned right-of-way without first getting approval from the county commission. ATXI has failed to obtain permission from any of the five counties – Knox, Adair, Shelby, Schuyler, and Marion. The lawsuits seek to force the various county commissions to grant ATX I permission and assent to construct its transmission lines over the respective county road systems.
