St. Louis County: North Gateway to Kirkwood redevelopment

The City of Kirkwood, in St. Louis County, Missouri, is considering redevelopment proposals for the intersection of Manchester Road and Lindbergh Boulevard (North Kirkwood Road), called the “north gateway” to Kirkwood. The redevelopment site is approximately twelve acres, and is bounded approximately by Manchester on the north and Wilson Avenue on the south. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Novus Companies submitted a proposed plan for a mixed retail and residential project (see article:http://m.stltoday.com/news/local/metro/developers-propose-projects-for-the-north-gateway-to-kirkwood/article_deb5089b-a1c3-502d-9bcf-b38cbd611abb.html?mobile_touch=true). There were also proposals submitted by other developers for smaller projects – a CVS pharmacy, and a Fresh Thyme Farmers Market speciality grocery. It is not clear at this time whether or not the City of Kirkwood will use eminent domain for this redevelopment area.
