Midwest Transmission Project – KCP&L

Midwest Transmission Project – KCP&L

KCP&L (Kansas City Power & Light) is currently acquiring property for a new 345-kv electric transmission line from the Sibley, Missouri substation to Nebraska City, Nebraska. A new Mullin Creek substation is planned for south of Maryville, Missouri. The new overhead transmission line will be approximately 180 miles long, and is expected to be in use by 2017. Easements across properties will be required to construct the transmission line.  Property owners along the route are concerned with the impacts of the project on their property values.

The project is projected to cost $400 million and is being constructed in partnership with Omaha Public Power District. The route of the 150- to 190-mile transmission has been finalized and the map can be found below

The project will impact the following Missouri Counties:

Ray County

Caldwell County

Clinton County

DeKalb County

Andrew County

Nodaway County

Holt County
