ATXI/Ameren Spoon River Transmission Line approved by Illinois x County and Peoria County – Ameren Illinois – (Galesburg to Peoria)

The Illinois Commerce Commissioner approved the final route of the Ameren/ATXI Spoon River Transmission Line Project known as “Spoon River.”  The new 345,000 kilo vole (345 kv) will be construct by Ameren Transmission Company of Illinois (ATXI) through Knox County and Peoria County in Illinois, connecting the Sandburg substation in Galesburg, Illinois, to the Fargo substation outside of Peoria, Illinois.  In total, the route is approximately 46 miles long. The power poles for the electric transmission line will be single-shaft steel poles, ranging in height from 90 to 130 feet tall, averaging 6 to 7 poles per mile. Ameren Illinois has the power of eminent domain for acquiring easements for the new transmission line.
