Boone County: City of Columbia New Electric Transmission Line

Boone County: City of Columbia New Electric Transmission Line

The City of Columbia’s utility department, Columbia Water & Light, is planning a new electric power transmission line to serve the growing needs of the City. Of the two options proposed, Option A has been chosen. The $18 million project will install a 161kv line for approximately 8 miles. The route is along Scott Boulevard, W. Vawter School Road, Nifong Boulevard, and the Grindstone Parkway. It will connect the Grindstone substation to the new Mill Creek substation and then proceed north to the Perche substation. The new lines will be underground to minimize the number of overhead lines. Eminent domain could be used for easement acquisition.
