Ameren announces Mark Twain Transmission final route

Ameren Transmission Company of Illinois (Ameren) announced that it has selected a final route for its Mark Twain Transmission Project.   Landowners affected by the route can expect to be notified by letter.  The route maps are found below.

The project calls for construction of a 345,000-volt transmission line from Palmyra, Mo., to Kirksville and then north to the Iowa border. Ameren claims the project will strengthen the nation’s power grid.  From the time of the initial announcement of the project, land owners have been concerned about the impacts of the project on their lands and the potential use of eminent domain powers by Ameren, which is an Illinois company.
